Ebay selling...send to Russia?

• Only Parcel Force as part of RM for the size of the item you are talking about.

Sounds dodgy though, I wouldn't risk posting

I sent an item to Russia via Parcel Force and it was a nightmare, it apparently never arrived, I paid £40 delivery fee's and yet Parcel Force don't get a signiture on delivery! I'm trying to claim for it but not getting anywhere, I lost £250.

I wouldn't send anything at all to the place, a friend of mine works for TNT and he said that they don't offer a service there anymore, lots never arrives.
• I'm not doing the transaction.

What's more is I have reported the buyer to Ebay (as Booter suggested in post 4) for representing herself as in the UK when she is in fact in Russia.

Ebay have replied(quote):
"......The action we take may include formal warnings, temporary account restrictions and indefinite suspension, depending on the severity of the policy breach. Members who receive a warning or a temporary suspension will be able to continue to trade on eBay.
As I'm sure you'll understand, member privacy is one of our top priorities, so we won't be able to update you about the results of this investigation."

So I'll never get to hear the outcome. Same as when a buyer suspects shill bidding. Ebay never tells you!

Poor customer service from Ebay!

• Hi - hope you don't mind me asking in this thread, but I have an interested Russian buyer for my soon to end computer auction (prob £1500) who I have told should organise his own courier if he wants it shipped to his address. Any risk there?

Many thanks

Read the sticky on postage.
• Thanks for the reply, but I couldn't find any info relevant to my question. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction?

I would never let a seller provide their own courier. If an item is lost or damaged en route, it leaves you with no control over compensation.

Certainly for Russia, there are very few couriers who will delivery to anything other than a business address and even then, you have to jump through hoops.

For £1500, I would stick to the UK with full online tracking and a signature, sent only to the registered paypal address.
• Ok thanks very much for the advice. I had assumed that if the buyer had provided their own courier that no liability would be on my shoulders once it left my house. But happy not to take the risk!

Cheers
• Back to the original poster's question.....

I have been bombarded with emails from the buyer in Russia. He urged me to sell to him, each time with a different tack....selling to Russia would be good experience for me....I was impolite by failing to give my real name....there is tracking available with the Royal Mail....

Either he is a scammer or keen on the goods.

I held firm, repeating that I only send tracked and signed for to the reg. Paypal address.
• The update is that the buyer (who used to live in the UK) has found a friend in the UK with a UK paypal address who is willing to let the whole transaction go through her Paypal a/c and take delivery.

Is it safe for me to proceed or am I missing something?
