  • Tried turning all taps on, blowing and sucking taps, holding palm over outlet and forcing cold water up hot water (if that makes sense).

    Any other ideas?

You need to force the cold mains into the hot water supply, use a hose pipe , you can buy tap adaptors. I generaly use a 3/4" hose.
tip-open the hot tap before opening the cold tap.

I think you need to live with it overnight and tackle it in the morning. BTW the "cold mains up the hot spout" trick won't work if the airlock is between the CWST and the HWC.

All mixers? Then the trick won't work at all. All bathroom mixers mix the H & C water inside the tap body. A kitchen one is the only type that mixes it at the tip of the spout.

You'll have to disconnect a hot drawoff at the tap connector and apply the cold mains there.

  • How did you isolate the water in the first instance beforeyou tied up the inlet valve arm ? ? ? was it by the mains isolation tap within your building??? If you did then it may be worth checking the following:

Because the header / storage tank is taking so long to fill and will be under mains pressure you may have a fault with you cold water isolation tap (especially if you over tightend it).... make sure the tap is fully opened, if not try turning the tap off and on again a umber of times and if that dosent work try gentle tapping the tap when in the open position.

If you isolated by the arm then ignore my comment above.

    Good luck

    Hi.

Post 7 should have been post 1. Much more detail.

Use a washing machine hose to link hot and cold washing machine taps.

    Blast hot side through.

Fill up all WC cisterns by bucket or tie up the ball valves in the same way as the loft tank.

Hand over the spout of a mixer tap. Open cold then hot.

Go round and open cold side on all taps. (there are two of you isn't there?) Close cold when it runs hot.

Turn off hot side and then cold.

Open cold tap on the lowest mixer. It should draw the air through.

    Repeat if not.

You might have water now anyway as it has had all night to sort itself.

OP - is it any better this morning?. As CH says it may have sorted itself out naturally. If you have both hot and cold fill taps for your WM then follow what he says. Otherwise you'll be doing it at a tap connector on one of your other drawoffs.

  • You can get a new kit from Wilkos quite cheaply (they're all in plastic BTW),

Sorry, I didn't realise Wilkos are now selling metal assemblies. I've never noticed any in there before.

I apologise - I misread your post. I thought you meant generically and missed the Wilko reference. For me I wouldn't know about their stock holdings - never go in there. :D
