I know these companies have a terrible reputation and can't believe I am thinking of using them, which is the least bad of them?

They only have a bad reputation from the press because of the high APR% and people who aren't very good with money used them to get into worse debt.

Personally I would use wonga, but that is because I've used them at least 8 times in the past and paid back on time.......no problems.

I've used Quick Quid who tried to take payment one week early before, which led to a few problems with their CS team so haven't been back since.

Wonga do charge £5.50 to transfer the funds but there are plenty of codes to waive that charge out there (PM me if you want a code - its not a referall code, however i've got one of them as well, you're choice).

I think you should only use a PDL company if you absolutely have to tie you over but ask at the Vet's first to see if they'll offer you more credit.

I do hope your cat gets better soon and I think once this situation is sorted out, you should look at getting some Pet Insurace. I only pay £8 per month and its more for piece of mind than anything.

Good luck to you and your cat no matter what path you choose :)

Oh, you disappoint me, PhoenixDF. I had you chalked up as someone sincere. My bad!

Any sign of the Wonga Standard Terms & Conditions of its Consumer Credit Agreement?

Has our favourite Rogue Lender yet published its Ts & Cs on that mindless website?

It's time that "all and sundry" were allowed to scrutinise it!

I stand by my comments as I've had no problem with wonga and you'll notice I mentioned to the OP they should consider all other avenues before hand and if they need to go the PDL route I am trying to help save them money.

Now tell me again, how that makes me a non-sincere person? (Don't answer that question as I am not taking the light away from the OP as they've asked for help from people).

I've not had any issues with wonga, so I have no need to make an issue with them. Life is too short to make mountains out of having too much spare time.

I am seriously thinking of taking a payday loan out for around £500, my cat has been ill and is likely to need further expensive treatment in the next week or so and I am not insured. I have already run up a bill there of around £300 to be paid over a year and I am not sure they will let me have more credit.
Here's a vulture loan company set up just for people like you:

I would seriously consider any other means of payment rather than a payday loan.

Been there, done that, scary as you like! I have never ever missed a payment but I would never ever recommend anyone else get one.

As a fellow kitty keeper I would get yourself some insurance asap. Not much worse than not being able to pay the vet bill but there's nothing worse than getting yourself into the messy situation with payday loans.
Life is too short not to love what you do.

Have you considered taking your cat to the PDSA for treatment?

The PDSA is an animal charity who do not charge for treating animals but ask for a donation to their funds.

Look up the nearest PDSA practice to you and take your cat along. You might have to sit and wait but it's better than a payday loan.

I think it's the one where Rolf Harris used to make his programmes. If not the one, it's very similar.

  • An update, kitty is much better now.....the steroids kicked in and he made a really swift recovery when they did which is a massive relief so no more bills to pay for now.

I found out I am eligible for PDSA funding at my own vet practice and have sent away the forms so will be covered in 3 weeks or so, will keep fingers crossed kitty stays well till then.

The vet payday loan doesn't surprise me, I couldn't believe how expensive it was for a night in the vet being rehydrated and kept warm which I think accounted for the majority of the bill. The blood tests were £100 too and I dread to think how much it would have been if an xray had been needed.
