How could my international buyer change postal costs

I only give postage costs for UK (£2.99) and state that I will sell internationally but for buyer to contact me.
Today buyer from Malta buys an item and has somehow only paid 25p for postage. Then they have come back and bought 3 more items and paid 10p total.
I have gone through and bought an item from my buyers account to see if it is a technical issue but I am unable to change the postage.
I do not know how this happened.
I have contacted the buyer saying I would be happy to sell using UK postage but they would have to pay some postage. My husband thinks I should try and cancel the order as it seemd really dodgy and they may try an "item not received" case.
Can anyone tell me if this is something my buyer would have conciously done?

At a guess the buyer amended the postage on an invoice you sent.
To stop buyers amending the postage on an invoice:-
My eBay > Account > Site Preferences
Under Payment from buyers > Click on the 'Show' link to the right > Edit > UNTICK the Buyer Edit Option' > Submit.0 -
Thank you so much
Would this be the case for automatic invoices also??
Do you know where I stand with this? Can I report it to ebay it they fail to pay the postage and save my feedback from taking a battering?0 -
The easiest way to stop this is to list the postage costs in your listings *then* lock your invoices. Then when a foreign buyer goes to pay the invoice automatically picks up the correct postage.
Using RM the are only two postal rates, so very easy to just add them in advance to the appropriate bit of the listingI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thank you, I have now changed everything. I normally only have post to UK allowed for most of my listings but when I changed this one, I took the fees away but did not untick worldwide which is why they have been able to purchase it.
So would it be fair of me to say that they should pay the standard UK postage? It seems that they have done nothing wrong but on the other hand the information on ebay does say that buyers may change posting where none is stipulated rather than wait for seller email but sellers may send an additional invoice to cover postage.
If I ask for additional postage would I be doing anything wrong in ebays eyes? I am wondering if I shoulf just take this hit as it is £100 and I do not want to risk upsetting a buyer who may claim the item was not received. Especially as I can't afford to send signed for if they do not agree to the postage!0 -
For a £100 item you are going to need a courier or else risk tracked and extra insurance with RM. That's going to be expensive so just explain to buyer that they need to ay x for post and packing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
