Gas credits

Martin, Can you help me, I phoned BRITISH GAS just 10 minutes ago, about the £120.00 they have been giving people who are on benefits or disabled this money. When I phoned they said it ended on 31/01/2012 and that they were not registering any more people, it was closed down. I had never heard of it, a friend told me yesterday about the grant from BRITISH GAS that was done by the goverment. I am disabled and also need to use my nebuliser every day and be in constant warmth, IS IT FAIR !!! I never saw it advertised. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE MARTIN if there is anything I can do. Thankyou mommybear.

Who can get the Warm Home Discount

Pension Credit customers who are automatically considered for the rebate

You may qualify for this energy rebate if on the qualifying date of 11 September 2011 all the following apply:
    • you got only the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (no Savings Credit)
    • your name, or your partner’s name was on your electricity bill
    • your electricity account was with one of the energy suppliers participating in this scheme – see ‘Energy suppliers participating in this scheme’ below
If you meet the conditions above you do not need to do anything now to get your rebate.
If you do not qualify automatically because you get the Savings Credit element of Pension Credit see "Can other people get a Warm Home Discount" below.

The warm home discount scheme has been closed for new applicants by British Gas.

Google British Gas Warm home discount scheme

Sorry Mommybear but you have been advised correctly. The Warm home discount closed on 31.1.2012. It has been advertised on this site many times, on newspapers and television and in many other places. Just because you are disabled does not mean you would have qualified though you would need to have the household income assessed.

We will be taking info for the following year shortly but now are dealing with those that applied up to the end date.
