cost of replacing back boiler with condensing boiler

Hi
what im after is a rough idea of how much it will cost to replace my ageing back boiler with a condensing boiler. i do not require new radiators and will want the boiler fitted where the hot water storage tank is at the moment (airing cupboard)so most of the pipe work already leads up there, probably only gas needs running up)and its also next to a outside wall for flue.
What im basically after is fitting costs as i know what the boilers themselves cost
Also would i still be able to leave my back boiler in but obviously not using it till i get round to replace fire front

You may find it hard to get a price for install only. Thus is due to engineers wanting to buy the product themselves, normally. With CH, engineers gear the margin of what they make on the boiler into the total price, so if you have been hunting around the net and come up with a price of what you know the boiler you want is selling for, this could actually be exactly the same price that the engineer would have to buy it at. There are a lot of big plumbers merchants selling online to Joe Public at the same price as trade price to the engineer. You wouldn't be happy with them putting a few 100 quid on top of this, so this is were your difficulties lie.

I would suggest finding a good engineer from recommendations and being up front with him. Tell him you have a price for the boiler and are prepared to buy it yourself, you just want a fitting charge. He may then put on a bit extra on his fitting charge to cover for any margin lost. This should give you a more accurate figure.

Other posters may give you a ball park figure of costs.

You can replace your old inefficient back boiler with a new high efficiency condensing back boiler which might cut down your installation costs a bit.
