does a 2L car cost a fortune to run?

hi, im looking to buy a honda accord 55 2.0 manuel, but worry if it is going to be expensive to run compared to my old honda civic 1.4 auto 1997. i use it to commute to work , can somebody tell me the difference

    Not very much. Just a quick google reveals the honda civic 1.4 is 44MPG and the honda accord 2.0 is 38MPG.

    So you'll get 14% less miles for the same fuel each week. Or about 17% more fuel each week for the same distance travelled. Being 8 years newer and manual it probably won't even be that much more at all.

    Depends what sort of journey your commute to work is. If it's mainly motorway, then you may find that the more powerful 2.0-litre engine could be more fuel efficient as it will be more relaxed and not working as hard as the 1.4-litre at motorway speeds.
