Sorry but drains and sewers are not pressurised!
It may well be a double sealed drain cover but that is to prevent ingress not egress!
The only egress it will prevent is smells and double sealed drainage covers are only normally used on internal manholes or where safety issues prevail to prevent covers coming loose?
You are also ignoring the fact that a blockage exists that will cause further problems if not dealt with ASAP so leaving it a day could mean a bigger problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4000 houses flushing toilets and emptying baths down 100 year old sewers made to cope with 100-200 houses will create pressure not the type of pressure that will inflate a car tyre or even the type of pressure that will launch a bottle into the air but enough pressure to pop of a non fixed inspection plate. And as I posted at around 8:30ish at night in the peeing rain (or snow wherever the poster is) i didnt really think they had the lap top next to the offending drain asking for advice..I might be wrong you never know..a quick spray with the wd40 at 8:30pm until tomorrow when it might be oh i dont know ...um DAYLIGHT... can help...
but maybe i shouldnt help at all but do forgive me if I dont kneel down and genuflect towards your correctness i will just crawl under my rock and let the orginal poster strip the screws and then have even more problems when they cant fit the manhole cover again...THE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0
