Any interest in Freecycle N.Ireland?

I think it's a great idea. As far as I know all our local Councils have central amentity areas with skips, re-cycling etc. Why couldn't they have an adjacent 'Freecycling' area, where people can leave things that they don't want, but that may be useful to someone else (You can hardly put a half sheet of MDF on ebay or give it to a charity shop!) Perhaps anyone who finds / takes something useful could make a nominal donation towards the cost of organising / manning the facility.0

Just noticed this old post.
Thought I would give a thumbs-up for the Belfast Freecycle group.
We have given away items twice now and received something once. Very easy site to use.butterfly )i(0 -
Im a GREAT fan of freecycle in fact my whole family are really into it...although i have to do all the computer work but they do the running around the countryside collecting the things we are offered!!
I have given away LOADS of things that are simply too good for the skip and i have found that the things people are giving away are a long cry from 'rubbish',it is usually very good condition items that are no longer needed.
Also, any post i have ever made for WANTED items i have recieved....youngest daughter is now sporting a very stylish Hely Henson(is that the spelling?!) life jacket as i found it was going to be very expensive for one to fit a 1 year old so i asked and i recieved!
Just to let you know our best item we've got yet that was offered a couple of weeks ago........A 5 BERTH CARAVAN!! Absolutly first class condition we just couldnt believe our luck....we are now planning a week away in it with the kids in the summer!
FREECYCLE ROCKS :-)it takes more energy
to hate than to love...
love and relax!0 -

There's already a Belfast Freecycle Group on Yahoo:

I know a friend has got quite a few good things from it. Great idea!0 -
Was just gonna add to AD's post.
I've used Freecycle Belfast extensively, and it seems that because we aren't a big place, and big on giving?, that Freecycle have deemed the Belfast group to be the NI one. Lots of people on there already using it for the whole of NI, and quite successfully.0 -
I'd be delighted to give away my old but still useable stuff.there's also the following groups for freecycle in Northern Ireland:

Freecycle in Belfast is a joke most of the time the server times out and the moderators and a few other appear to have a wee click going on.It also seems if you complain your replies are held back.avoid disappointment and use Gumtree anyone saying anything different is probaly part of the wee inside group.0

I'd probably try it but I'm a bit sceptical. Do you really get things for free? And you joined just to post that? Someone stolen your dummy?0

This thread was created in March 2005, and was last posted on in June 2007. Yet now it has been resurrected by someone who joined today and has gone straight to slagging freecycle off. Maybe s/he was thrown out of the "wee inside group".0
