Northern Rock Savings Account HELP

Me and my brother were both left with inheritance when my grandmother passed away in 1994, since both being young, we were both aware we had both been left with savings accounts in the form off a pass book from Northern Rock, now I have just written my money off now as its been so long and me and my father don't have a good relationship. Due to cheques at a young age, my brother has more in his account than me, but also has the pass book with the name of my father and grandfather to sign. Now sadly my grandfather passed away two years ago, but my dad is very self centred and has no time for me nor my brother. However, my brother is currently struggling as he had been laid off, and there is a substantial amount to keep him a float for the next few weeks whilst out of work.
The only problem is, is that we have asked my father in the past to take us to get this money and we get fobbed off with excuses. Me and my brother are both over the age of 21 now, but we are stuck at what to do about this money. As my dad is very difficult about it, but that money was left for me and my brother so its becoming a bit of a principle of the situation now.
As Northern Rock nearly went under the local branch has closed and the nearest one is 10 miles away in manchester town centre. When I went in, i got fobbed off with there is nothing they can do unless I have a copy of my grandfathers death certificate. I dont have that, and nor will my father give me that.
So what do I do next to get this money?
Thanks in advance peepz x

You can pay £9.25 to get a copy death certificate.

Ask NR exactly what their requirements are. They might need more than this.0
