Lloydstsb phonebank express finishing

Letter from LTSB this morning, saying their free phonebank express service is finishing this April. Really disappointed with this, you could you an 0800 for free, without having to use 0845.

or instead of calling 0845 3 000 000 you could call 01733 347 007 from a mobile and it will come out of your free minutes. Or if you pay for the free 0845 0870 0800 numbers with vodafone it don't matter you can call them on the 0845 number :T

    What do you mean?
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)

Phonebank express uses the free phone number of 0800 015 2000, you could access your accounts without using their 0845 number, which I believe you have to pay for, as money saver log quite rightly reminded me, if you call 01733 347007 on certain domestic or mobile call plans, calls maybe for free. Just prefered using phonebank express as a preference really, will be sorry to see it go.

So the telephone number you mean? Or the Phonebank Express setup which is the automated service?

Maybe you should have a kip then, it looks pretty clear to me. To access Lloyds Phonebank Express you used to be able to call an 0800 number (free), you will now have to use an 0845 number (not free).
  • Or use the internet (free) or mobile internet, or if you have an inclusive plan free 0845 or use free minutes to call the 01733 number.

So many ways to get at your money now a days. I remember a time you could only get at your cash in branch and you had to be there before the bank closed at 3.30pm - Seems a long time ago now, but that was the time a branch manager could actually make decisions that are now in the hands of the computers.

Good. Since we are all effectively shareholders in Lloyds TSB it's good to see them cutting costs. IMHO I think the whole phonebank operation should be on a premium rate number so that those of us who use the Internet, whether at home or on a smartphone aren't subsidising an archaic service.

They ought to also charge a premium for counter services where the customer could have carried out the transaction online.

There are times however, when you do need to speak to an adviser, granted I very rarely have to now a days. That's not to say at somepoint I may need to in the future. As a customer, and tax payer, I would not want to be calling a premium rate number to speak to an adviser at my bank.

That would be a backward step as would charging for a counter service.

Of course, online savers get a better rate of interest, which presumably reflects the cheaper costs of operation.

So it's already priced in to the overall proposition.

Of course, upsetting customers in a way that they leave the bank, taking their rather valuable current account balances and savings balances with them, would damage the company's recovery, delay the repayment of taxpayer loans and mean that the partial state ownership of the bank would never end.
