If you paid this loan by DD and have internet banking, look on the DD list and the account should be there. If you do not have internet banking, your bank may be able to help you.
If you need to know if you had ppi on this loan, then do SAR

This will cost you £10 but they should find the agreement.
If you know you had ppi, then when you get the account number, look here for reasons for mis sell and if an/all aooly to you, then put a claim in.0 -

As you say the loan ended in 2008 this is within the 6 year time scale that they should keep records. I would SAR them and they are legally obliged to supply you with everything they hold on record for you within 40 days. A SAR costs a one off fee of £10 (payable by cheque)
Sainsbury's were bankrolled by Bank of Scotland, you could try contacting them first, might be worth a shot and save you £10
Another route could be to do a free credit check (Experian) for instance and it might turn up the loan in question although it will only give you the last 4 digits of the loan number. But at least you will know that records still exist in some form
and you can go back to Sainsbury's with that information, good luck Successes
Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid
MBNA £3,600 Paid
