Problem bathroom pipework

Hi,

Have small bathroom (guessestimate 6'x7'6'') with bath along width, then toilet and washbasin along one wall. The problem is, the pipes for the toilet and washbasin look really terrible. Would love to get everything hidden away but don't really want to eat into the space in this already tiny room - any suggestions?

Expect to get new wash basin and sink, but as room needs to be retiled, plastered, new floor and we're moving in a few months need quite a cost effective solution!

Also, anyone who fancies this job? Live M25 Junction 11, need 9 unit kitchen (B&Q) fitting too... :p

All suggestions welcome!

As a plumber I would usually repipe under the floor so pipes to the new wc and basin are not visible. Unless you have a concrete floor ( very unusual) I would have this done.
In some houses with internal drains its the waste pipes that are the problem , consider a vanity unit instead of basin and ped if this helps to hide pipes.
On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.
  • Thanks bestyman property is in a block of maisonettes so it is the waste pipes that are the issue - so big and grim looking! I guess I will have to go with vanity furniture - just hope I find some that's not gloss white or completely pretend wood!

You can also get a hideaway toilet cistern( thats the cistern behind a wood panel with just the toilet bowl showing) and vanity unit. This would cover the entire wall - not cheap though .

Cheaper option is to box pipes in and tile over , or even cheaper carpet over /paint , this also makes access easier should the pipes block or leak . Consider making the boxing bigger than it needs to be so it doesnt look like a pipe boxing ( does that make sense?) .

Ikea may have soom cheap vanity units that would do.

  • Yeah I think I'll go for the boxing option - thanks! Now, just to find someone who will actually turn up...!!
