Hi, I'm just looking for some advice
I currently receive high rate mobility and i own my own car, on which I have an exemption road tax.
On march 1st I get a mobility car, what happenstance
To the road tax? I'm assuming it will have to go onto the mobility car, but how do the dvla work it?
When will I get any forms etc to swap the tax to the other car and then tax the car I have now?( I'm keeping the car I currently own as its used for towing caravan and hubby will be using it for ork).
I hope this makes sense?!

Your assumption someone will send you some paperwork, let alone paperwork in time may be a fragile assumption.
Its my understanding that your DLA404 certificate is taken from you and assigned to Motability for as many years as you are with them and only returned to you on request when you leave the Motability scheme.
What happens in the real world is hundreds or thousands of vehicles are presented for taxation at the last minute at the end of the month to DVLA and either the Motability car will be refused or your private vehicle will be refused - this may well delay the Motability acquisition for however long it takes to sort out the paperwork.
My advice is to go to the helpful local DVLA office in your area with your DLA404 / private vehicle registration documents / tax disk application / test certificate / insurance certificate & money a~s~p and ask their advice
If the DVLA won't make the transfer this next week.. .. they will after the 20th [I think] so take their advice, return when told to and pay for a disk for your private car / relinquish the 404 certificate & disk / and pay to tax your own vehicle [or SORN it] for private use, this will facilitate the Motability application for an exempt tax disk.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. You'll need to change the class of your current car from disabled to (presumably) private light goods. If you look on your V5C, under the heading 'Taxation class', it has 'Disabled' and it's that bit which needs changing.0
