Hello sorry if this is the wrong place to post.
I am looking (husband and I) at all this PPI stuff.
we have had lots of credit cards, store cards loans and remorgages over the last 13 years.
all I have details of is the current mortgage,2 loans and 1 credit card we have now.
Is the anything I can do. I dont know the dates or information about anything else. I dont know if we had ppi on any of these things either.
also when we got our last mortgage I think about 4 or 5 years ago, we have to take life insurance out (we also took critical illness out but I think that was our choice)
it was done through the mortage advisor and it was with leagal and general ( we still have our cover with them but we are out of the deal now as we have to stay with them until the deal on the mortgage finished.
so if there is anything you can tell me, I ve read through the info but I just dont really undertand it. I know it says not to use a company but I dont think my small brain can cope with all the info
thank you

First you need to establish if you had PPI on the mortgage, loans and cards etc and then establish if you were mis-sold the PPI. Start with the accounts you have records for. PPI will show up on the credit card statements if you had it.
Life insurance is different and as far as I know it can be made a condition of taking out a mortgage and it was fairly standard practice to do so. There are other people on here who know loads more about that. If no one picks up on your post, post the Life Insurance question in a new thread.0 -

Hi there, I stupidly used a claims company for one claim for a LLoyds Tsb loan. It has not been worth it, they have not got any further, i signed up with the claims company over 18 months ago about the lloyds loan, and i am still waiting for my money now!
It really is worth doing it your self, I have just made a claim to MBNA for a credit card that ended with them about 5 years ago. I firstly phoned them up and said i thought i had been mis-sold PPi as could see i had it on an old statement. They said they would look into it, 2weeks later had a letter to say they were investigating, a further 2 weeks later, letter stating they would be giving me £850 cheque followed a few days later
I am currently waiting for responses from tesco credit card and Capital one. Also waiting to hear back from C & G as we had PPI on a mortagage with them that ended 5 years ago.
I have also made successful claims for my mum & dad with halifax Loan, and a halifax credit card for my husband
Firstly you need to try and work out from statements if you have PPI, if not sure ring the companies up and ask over the telephone. Some companies will deal with complaints over the phone, others it is easier to print off the questionnaire from this website and fill in
But definatly worth trying to do it your self as these claims companies will take about 20-30% off you
hope this helps0 -

L&G sales reps require you to buy the insurance as that is the commission they get paid to cover the "free" mortgage advice. This is allowed and as you say, you wanted it anyway.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
