Indian Call Centre Scammers - SM Ltd

It seems that not a day goes by without a silent call or some Indian call centre phoning me to ask about my Sky TV package, a recent accident or my mortgage.

One particular company name that comes up at the beginning of calls is SM Ltd.

I had a call from them yesterday about my Sky TV package, and again today about my mortgage. The interesting things is that whilst they offer up the company name right at the beginning of the call, if you ask them the name of their company again, they appear reluctant to confirm it. Persistence usual results in them hanging up.

It appears that India is rapidly becoming the new Nigeria when it comes to scams. Clearly my telephone number is on a list that's been sold to these scammers and they're repeatedly trying it on with any number of schemes.

If India wants it's IT industry to be taken seriously they need to sort out their growing cybercrime issues pronto.

Try shouting down the phone "You are one big goonda!"* before you slam it down.

*Hindi for bandit. Or you could call him a 'badmash' - a lowlife character or thief. Which is of course exactly what he is.

Lol, or you could try "rogue" or "rascal"... Hindi is a very expressive language and there are lots of other words that would be a lot more hard-hitting.

It really bothers me that wherever industry progresses, fraud thrives too.
