How far do (or would) you travel for work?

Maybe more tiring walking but for me it would be less stressful.
As I pointed out in an earlier post I would not want to drive for more than 45 minutes to get to work. In addition I would also want my salary to reflect on any role that involved additional travel.
That is my choice and can appreciate we are all different.0 -
I have a 15 mile car journey and it takes between 30-45 minutes on average.
I wouldn't want to work any further away TBH - commuting is just wasted time IMO.0 -
I must be one of the luckiest on here, my work commute is 2.3 miles and takes about 4 mins by car. If I walk there is a footbridge over the motorway cutting distance by about a mile.
I used to travel circa 75k/year and earn a lot more, but after 2 hospital holidays have changed a lot of things. Totally changed my life for the better. I now spend loads of time in front of my logburner watching tv, listening to the radio, helping my daughter with her homework. My spare time is spent finding as many supermarket bargains as pos. I normally hit tesco and Asda £100 pricecheck limits by the 10th of the month!
At the end of the month now I have more money spare than ever!0 -
My last job was 35 minutes by car plus 10 minutes walk. It was a pleasant route and I actually considered that quite close. In the past it was an hour if you missed the rush hour - and upwards of an hour and a half if you didn't. But I was a lot younger and working my way - albeit unintentionally - up the career ladder. Also I had a good wage!
I'm actually retired now and wouldn't mind a bit of 'pin money'. Since I'm not interested in building up a career I would probably be just as well off getting a low wage job in the local village as getting a higher paid job further afield with extra travel costs and stress!0
