How far do (or would) you travel for work?

I used to do Rugby to Birmingham which took me just over an hour door-to-door there on very busy roads in the mornings, but it was more like 45mins at 7pm in the evening.
I now do 45 mins Rugby to Banbury on a really easy country road route. I really enjoy the "commute" as I can just whack on the radio, and in the mornings I can "wind up" for work, and then "wind down" on the way home, back for 6pm!
Yours should be no problem. Also, in my opinion, an hour in your own car is much better than an hour on public transport - struggling for space, having to rely on busses and trains etc... Depends how much you like driving as well I suppose.0 -
I pay £3800 a year for the privilege of sitting on a crowded train and getting a crap service, too!!
.
Woww, lucky you to get a seat - I was doing nearly 2 hours one way door to door for more money (ticket) and had the pleasure of standing all the way with my nose under someone's arm, someone else's elbow in my ribcage , someone else's bag runing my tights, someone else's backpack blocking my face AND had to listen to not-my-kind-of-music all the way from several various "sources" with headphones on (them not me) - by the time I got to work I was feeling filthy , wanting a shower and to get to bed...
London for you....
An hour drive in own car.. what a bliss....0 -
£4k a year train ticket and 2hrs each way, been doing it for five years but don't know how much longer I can put up with it if I'm honest...0

30 min walk along the river / harbour.0

1 hr 45 on average on the way in, the way back is technically the same but turning up 5 minutes before the train leaves means standing for at least the first 30 minutes so tends to be 2 hours door to door home to ensure a seat the whole way.
The journey in is ok as basically still asleep, the journey home is more irritating0 -
I do about one hour each way, although often work from different locations which can involve 2 - 3 hour trips each way. I do sometimes say over though so don't do that every day
The only things i would think on would be the extra financial costs in the longer commute, and whether these are factored in to your thinking, and also that the first few weeks it will seem like a huge commute, but after that it will become normal.
I used to walk to work, and when i started commuting an hour it depressed me loads! The first week or two i honestly thought i couldn't continue it. Now it seems the most normal thing in the world, which to be honest it probably is!0 -

Depends on the day I can be working at my home office so 0 minute commute or seeing customers ranging from 30 mins to 2 hours away or going to HQ which is about 3 hours on a good day. Sometimes I get stuck in traffic but I try to do meetings that avoid travelling in busy periods if I can. I don't think I could do the same journey every day especially on public transport in crowded conditions, I have done it and done the crawl into the big city in a car and I prefer this style of working now.0
