Honey coloured/golden furniture ply?

I'm looking to build a built-in cabinet for my fish tank, finished with a honey-coloured/blond/golden coloured varnished ply - the sort of effect that was popular in the 1950s-60s. Does it need to be a special sort of ply to give that colour and where is a good source?

Birch faced ply is what your looking for...........Its not cheap and you will be paying about £45-£55-00 for an 8x4 sheet of 18mm.......... Its the best ply for making cabinets etc as it does'nt have any voids in it and does'nt de-laminate like WBP (water and boil proof ply) ..... Its very pale,cream in colour and stains well........

Just made a kitchen from Finnish birch faced ply with a lacquerd finish and its a nice effect..

Added info: The surface quality is graded ,so A-A is A grade both sides (best) much of the Birch ply we get now is Graded either A-B (best one side ,other side may have imperfections) and also grade B-B which may have small knots and black streaks....

Sources : Local timber merchants but may need to order it in..
