Hotpoint Aquarius Washing Machine flooding kitchen

I've got something really odd going on with my washing machine. It has been quite noisy for a couple of weeks and we thought it may need a replacement belt. It's now leaking foamy ice cold water which we though was coming out of the house that goes into the waste, but it's actually coming out of the bottom of the machine.

It's a Hotpoint Aquarius and it's only about 3-4 years old. My last hotpoint lasted 15 years.

Anyone had the same symptoms on their machine and what caused it?

It appears to be during the spin cycle

We had the machine filling up completely, pushing the door seal away and leaking out that way.

The filter was blocked and needed cleaning out. We had never done it before, and now check it every few months.

You have to drag the machine out, round the back is a small panel at the bottom with a few screws in it. Inside here is the drum, you can see at the bottom there is a black rubber boot which goes to the pump. It splits off to recycle the water i think aswell.

You need to remove the large dubilee clip from the drum, and pull the rubber boot off. Inside is a plastic ball and the filter element. No doubt something is in here. Remove whats not suppose to be in there, refit the ball. Refit the boot and tighten up.

A + head screwdriver will do for the whole job. Plenty of guides available on youtube for it if your that kind of person.

Less than 15mins and its off, cleaned and back on, tested.

You'd need to open it up to find out where the leak was from.

Usually there are powder runs that will point to where the leak is from.

Without looking it's just guesswork in all honesty.

But start by cleaning the filter and checking that the drain hose isn't kinked/blocked.

That won't cause it to leak. It will throw up an error, but not leak usually.

    ^^ Caused mine to leak.

The washing filling up pressed the door deal away, and water leaked out of the bottom of the door seal.

It gave no errors, apart from wet feet.
