Barclays Refusing to give me a copy of credit agreement

Hi MSExperters!
I had a loan that i settled back in 2006 and unfortunately lost all the paperwork. I've written to Barclays requesting a copy of the credit agreement and their response is:
"As there is no sum payable under the credit agreement, there is no requirement for us to comply with your request"
That just makes me think they have something to hide. How can i force them to give me a copy of the credit agreement?
Cheers

What Barclays are saying is correct as the contract is ended. Have you tried a SAR?0

a SAR is when you send them £10 and they have to send you every info they hold about you, including agreements, statements etc.0

Wrong assumption. The CCA no longer applies to debts which have been repaid. So, if you use that act to request an agreement and pay the £1 then they can refuse it. Even if you use the £10 subject access request, you may not get it as its 6 years from settlement. They may have destroyed it or moved it into a non-relevant filing system. You can ask as they may not have.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Thanks for your replies guys. I'll try the SAR. Worth a go! Thanks again0
