Alternative to Skinners puppy food

Options
I'm picking up a new puppy tomorrow (I'm sooo excited). The breeder has been feeding him skinners puppy food & even though she will be giving me some to take home I can't find any locally. Is there an alternative, hopefully cheaper, that I can give?
Many thanks for any advice.

I really like Skinners food - plus adult food has no VAT on it, so maybe don't change!

You can buy online and several places offer free delivery.

PS before the mandatory bombarding, can we have pictures please!!
  • You can get Skinners online (and usually at much better prices than you can get at local shops) - it really is a great quality food - wheat gluten free http://www.skinnerspetfoods.co.uk/products/Field---Trial-Products/Puppy-Food/ - so I'd try to stick to it if you can.

I had a very quick look and did find it for £26 for 15kg (which should last a fair while for a pup) http://www.vetuk.co.uk/puppy-food-skinners-puppy-food-c-836_852_855/skinners-field-and-trial-puppy-food-15kg-p-2432 but worth hunting around as offers / prices change constantly with the online retailers.

Yes, there are alternatives but to get something of a similar/better quality, you're looking at paying quite a lot more.

Their adult foods (duck & rice, turkey & rice, salmon & rice only) are also hypoallergenic, wheat, dairy & gluten free and a very good food to follow on from the puppy one.

Why don't you just ask the breeder if you can buy a complete sack from her?

How long have you known you were getting this pup? Presumably you have had a number of weeks to source the food?

Have you told her you are considering switching her carefully reared, precious baby to some alternative cheap food? I doubt she will be impressed :(.

As the above posts state - Skinners is incredibly easy to source online and most pet shops can get some in for you. Please don't start messing about with the pups feeding regime (and health) by switching brands just to save a couple of quid.

We got skinners from Amazon, cheapest we could find at the time and quickly delivered. Take it from someone who has a puppy, weaning/changing foods needs to be done very slowly over a number of days because of their sensitive tummies.

We changed Benson's food after the 2 day supply ran out, as the breeder wouldn't give us the name of the brand. Benson suffered for a few days after.
