Are thare any other NTL customers out there? I had a family package plus telephone......and I have now been given a new package that seems to include line rental of £11 per month PLUS (and this is the new bit) Free weekend calls. I tried to talk to someone at NTL - now Virgin Media - and got an Indian call centre where the bloke said We did now got free calls at weekend but only after promting so I wasn't convinced and he didn't seem to have a clue what he was talking about......so no improvement in NTL's customer service then
Anywaty does anyone else no what's goin on?. Thx

Not quite the same, but I was with telewest and had medium tv, small broadband, paid for all phone calls and extra for sky sports 1 and 2. I'd negotiated a £3 ongoing reduction last year but that had disappeared when I got my bill so I phoned them.
I Said my bill just seemed to be going up and that sky was a similar price but included Disney channel.
RESULT- She could offer me the upgraded full Tv package, upgraded to 4mg broadband and free evening and weekend calls for £5 less a month than I'm paying now!
i'LL still have to pay for other calls, but that will be the same as before.
I'm very happy.0 -

Yes your now be on their new size m basic phone package which includes free weekend calls to 01/02 geographical numbers.
See: http://allyours.virginmedia.com/websales/service.do?id=3
To lower the cost of the 3p a minute plus 6p connection charge for Peak and Evening Calls, consider using http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php who only charge 4p connection and 1p a minute via their 0808 freephone number.0 -

The calls will cost 4p connection and 1p/minute whereas, if you'd called on Virgin, they'd cost 6p connection and 3p/minute.
If you check out 18185's rates, you may well find that they are a lot cheaper for calling mobiles and internationally too.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
