Dear all,
there seem to be many service providers for central heating breakdowns. Can any one suggest from personal experience' which one I should go for. The monthly charges vary a lot and every one seems to promises the earth,
thanks in anticipation,

None. Use a local independent GSR RGI for an annual service-and call them out in the unlikely event that you should need assistance.
Put the savings on the monthly fee that you would have paid out for in the bank to cover any such call outs.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I agree with Macman. You take out a service contract and your at their mercy. You phone them, they come round - eventually - then they dont have the part required, so go away & say they'll ring you when the part in in stock - then you end up chasing them up. Nightmare when the weather is bad.

Far better to use a local chap whose likely to come - either have the part on board or go & get it & be back next day worst scenario - in my experience anyway

Many thanks, I will keep that in mind. British gas are advertising heavily, my original guarantee run out in March. It is a two year old system and a cover for boiler, parts and pipes' at a resonable cost does give peace of mind, in case i am away leaving family to fend for themselves. Warmfront are also providing such cover.
    Many thanks every one.

I agree with this as well. i have been using the same local firm for about 8 years, first in my previous flat and now in my house. they are reliable and helpful and I don't pay any annual fee. I just contact them when I need the service.

A decent boiler and CH system installed 2 years ago, and annually serviced, should not need such cover.

I agree with macman too :p my 20+ year old boiler has needed less than £100 spent on it in the 13 years I've been in my flat, other obviously than its annual service by a local RGI.
Now free from the incompetence of vodafail
