Overseas Car hire

I'm looking into a short (7 day) car hire in Spain and have read threads from previous years where people have talked about Auto Europe and car-jet.co.uk, travelsupermarket comes up with easycars (esayjet) as the cheapest by quite a long way (£101 as compared to Auto Europe's £145 and car-jet £241) all seem to include the same e.g. collision waiver etc.. can anyone give me any experinces with easyjet cars?? or any advice on this?? you hear such stories of being stung for money and fine print etc.. my pa is comin all the way from oz to take my entire family- brothers, sisters, gradkids etc that I want to make sure everything is good with no nasty surprises.. much appreciated!!

  • What are your travel dates and which part of Spain.

Two companies to look at are https://www.arrowcars.es and https://www.carhiredonator274.com

Both companies are brokers who make a % from car hire companies and so can be flexible. Arrowcars have become friends of mine due to using them on a regular basis because of how professional they are and how competative they are, which is why I have no problem in recommending them. At the moment they book a car for me through Crown Cars as they are the only company offering no excess which is a must in Spain, believe me!! So try a comparison quote against all three?

carhiredonator247 are a company who give your chosen charity or organisation 7.5% of any rental cost BEFORE their profit so you see how much the 7.5% actually is when booking. I did a comparison quote against my friends site and this site beat it by about £1 which is not much but then I could claim 7.5% for a charity or organisation which tilted it in my favour, BUT which has now tested my loyalty to the other company!!

    Welcome to MSE, Presto.

There are many threads on this board about car hire in Spain (and elsewhere) which you should read.

Travelsupermarket.com quotes are not always for equivalent vehicles - check carefully.

Most web booking sites are brokers who will use the same suppliers in Spain. So comparing prices is fairly easy. However, you do need to check the T&Cs carefully.

'No Excess' usually means what it says - apart from wheels, tyres, glass and locks. The first two (sometimes glass too) can usually be covered at pick-up for an extra cost of €10-15 per hire.

Cars are usually supplied with a chargeable full tank of fuel - you return the car 'empty'. Suppliers that offer to take the car back 'full' and not charge for fuel usually charge a higher basic rate.

Cars are usually in good condition, but may not be supplied with the legal requirements of warning triangles and emergency jackets. Check before you drive away.

We've been hiring cars in Spain for many years and have never been 'stung' for extra charges. The best sites we've used are Carjet and Argus. In my view, Carjet have the best customer service system, but, although they are usually competitive on price, that isn't always the case.

    http://www.recordrentacar.com

Use them in Mallorca - If the offer is still on, join their club and get a discount off your car hire. Still on today, get 5euro off car hire.

Also (may be same in Spain mainland) you get the car with petrol in, just bring it back with the same amount, no having to pay for full tank and have to take it back empty.

Hmmm....my point proved, I think! Like I said, suppliers who do full/full usually charge more than those that do full/empty. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

1 week hire of a Clio at Alicante in March with Carjet = €90, 1 week with Record = €100.
