They are a member of ARLA, but it seems that you must have exhausted the LA's internal complaints procedure prior to lodging a complaint with them?

Once you do that you can refer it to NAFOPP who then can decide to take disciplinary action.

The government has made it clear it sees no need to regulate, nor have LA's enforce the laws that do exist.

Rather they did that- people might vote in local elections if they did something to help the payers rather than their constituents, the takers,
Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.

Sorry, only just seen the replies.

The landlord's name was cited in the tenancy agreement, but c/o the LAs address.

The original request was submitted by recorded post in July 20011, so possibly out of time now as someone has suggested? Unfortunately the subsequent communications (ie me chasing up the written request and them refusing to give me the information) were all via email which I have lost. D'oh!

So it looks like I won't get anywhere with this. I just can't believe that there's legislation that nobody wants to enforce. It's a joke. The only tenants who seem to have any rights in this country are local authority tenants. If you work hard and rent privately you're screwed.:(
