have a branch saver acc with santander ,opened 12 months ago today at a good interest rate, but it drops today to virtually nothing i asked for the interest to be paid annually so when will the interest go in does it go in today or tomorrow.as i need to move the money elsewhere

If it is an e-saver account the interest is paid on the anniversary of the account opening.0

It doesn't matter. If you ask them to close the account the interest will be paid to you along with the rest of the money in the account.
NB - You must ask them to close the account rather than just withdrawing the cash.0 -
But you don't need to wait for the interest : if you close the account, it will be paid immediately. Or you can still move the balance and leave the account open and the interest will still be paid on schedule.0
