isnt it still a good price at £1249 although it is reconditioned? still looks £500 cheaper than anywhere

I have received my Reconditioned Sony VAIO SZ2XP/C, ordered Thurs afternoon, I collected it from the couriers Sat morning, not bad considering I live in the Scottish Highlands.

It came well packaged in a plain brown cardboard box, inside was the laptop, manuals, power adapter, power cable and a slot in memory card reader.
So far I'm really chuffed with it, however the power cable supplied did not fit the adapter so I had to head out to PC World to buy the correct one, I will be claiming the cost back from Dixons (£9.99) Apparantly Sony changed the power adapters so an earthed one as people were getting mild shocks from some VAIO's. Sony included the new style charger supplied with an old style cable,

I'm still shocked that I actually received the laptop, as ordering the thing was a torturous 2 hour experience with their Sales dept dithering about stock levels etc. And I am convinced that I have a mega bargain considering I got this for £664 (£699 minus NHS Staff Discount) PC World were selling the same recon for £999.99 and I note that Dixons have put the price up to £949. To buy new, this laptop would have been around £1500 and I believe this model was only released mid 2006 so not even that old.

Stonking spec, stonking price, stonking machine, I'm well chuffed!

Me too but i also ordered one at the normal price over the weekend so if i get a email today saying its in stock then that'll be interesting!
Also check the T&C and where it says that if the Home Delivery is ticked then its in stock so thats interesting too!
I wonder if anyone has got an email to say their order has been confirmed in addition to the acknowledgement email at either the £699.99 price or £1249.99 price?

spoke to cs i asked about todays delivery and they said i was misinformed
i'm not expecting a delivery till saturday so why send me an email saying they're out of stock now? i dont care about today got a few days left yet
tried ordering at normal price today but website says out of stock too

Ok just had an email saying the one i ordered at the full price is out of stock too.
I will be writing to Currys complaints dept asking how can 3 orders (2 at the £699.99 and 1 at the £1249.99) be out of stock when their T&C's says that if home delivery is ticked then the goods are in stock and can only go out of stock whilst im filling the rest of my details i.e. name, address, delivery date options and credit card details. I could maybe understand this on the first order while im filling in my details but on ordering the 2nd and 3rd the details are mostly already filled in!
I think i'll trading standards another call and see what they say too.

I called them to make sure I'd be getting mine and was told I would and at that price and that they were just waiting for more stock. I've written to them to complain and have noted the name of the person who took my call and the time and what they said, waiting for a reply. Any suggestions?

A word of warning, having received my Sony VAIO SZ2XP/C laptop I tried to register the guarantee (supposed to be 1 yr) Sony have mucked me around so much and now they say its only a 6 month guarantee on refurbished equpment. I ended up calling the Head Office and kicking up a stink, pointing out that on both Sony and Dixons website it clearly states 1yr guarantee. Sonly also sell refurbs on their Sony style website. Sony have now relented and agreed to honour the 1yr warranty. Make sure you get your full warranty!!!!!!!!
