Do you have life insurance?

  • It should be the opposite - you can get better rates when young as less likely to fall ill at that age etc.

I know, on the other hand you have more years ahead of you for things to go wrong... :D
  • Remember that some plans from comparison sites have some valuable features missing

LOL, you'd think that would have an effect wouldn't you, but I think the stats and probabilities show there is more people paying in for years that nothing happens to.

£70 is a lot. It is with Aviva via Confused.com (it would have cost a bit more if I had gone directly to Aviva tsk tsk) but my policy is only for 10 years, maybe that's why? Oh and I am 40, non smoker. Perhaps being young goes against you?

Did yours include critical illness or was it just life cover? As life cover is only around £10 for me....its the critical illness which seems to bump it up. Not sure if its worth it though!

As someone with depression and a few physical health issues, I gave up looking for critical illness cover - the quotes were hundreds of pounds a month.

I've got simple life cover for six figures at £10.99 per month for the life of the mortgage.

That was after two telephone interviews and a face to face interview with a company rep (L&G) who showed up at the canteen where I worked.

The trouble is, if you are not completely honest when filling in the forms, they will find any excuse not to pay out.

The beneficiaries are my two brothers who have enough money to pay off the mortgage and renovate my little hovel for sale.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

When I was at work I had 4 x annual salary life cover, but of course that stopped when I retired. So I took out a straight forward life cover policy - enough to put me in my little wooden box & pay off any outstanding bills. Cost (for £20k cover for 65yr old+ female) £15 per month.

Cheaper than my dog's health insurance (which is now £19.56 per month)!
