I have always used either
http://www.laterooms.com or https://www.holidayroomsdirect.com
both excellent sites with real bargains.... home and away !
You could also consider https://www.travelodge.co.uk.... some cracking deals on there to be had also
For caravanning, http://www.abbeyfordscotland.com/park.php?pkid=1?pkid=0
Kinkell Braes Caravan Park, has stunning view over St. Andrews, and is right on a cliff top overlooking sea
Enjoy

There are some great youth hostels in Scotland, Super saver rooms with Travelodge (£15 a room) if you can drop on them ( Quite a few available over Christmas and the new year), cottages for 6 can be had from £200 a week low season. It all depends on what sort of experiance you want. Good luck.0
