There are some great youth hostels in Scotland, Super saver rooms with Travelodge (£15 a room) if you can drop on them ( Quite a few available over Christmas and the new year), cottages for 6 can be had from £200 a week low season. It all depends on what sort of experiance you want. Good luck.
