desktop purchase help

looking to buy a desktop, to be used for sports trading, low level games (ie strategy games) and a general family computer. informed by a friend that this was a good deal

http://www.dinopc.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=93&idproduct=1199

but have never heard of dino pc before, also this would be right at the top end of my budget, i may have to sell one of my children to afford a monitor.

I dont want anything to basic as i want it to last and be upgradable in the future.

what do you think? should i start choosing which child to sell.
any help greatly appreciated.

Paddy

not bought from dino personally, but they've been around for a long time and seem to get good reviews around the bazaars. Have you also tried looking at overclockers.co.uk ?

Seems a good spec apart from the AMD cpu - Gigabyte arguably the best manufacturer of motherboards - here is a review of the cpu http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/pc-components/processors/amd-fx-4100-black-edition-1044553/review?artc_pg=3 - used to prefer AMD but of late they are not as good as the Intel chips, apart from price which is probably the only good thing one can say.

    Thanks for the replies,
Just had quick look at overclockers it looks like its quite a specialist site and if I am honest I'm not ever so sure about what I am looking at, so will have proper look at it later, though many of them look out of my budget.

that would be a good buy apart from the PSU 500watt, a friend of mine with a quad core same as that one said his power supply didnt last long. he had to beef it up with a 750watt
as for the monitor you dont really need one if you have a LCD TV, should be able to connect to that. but you are forgetting some other items required.
keyboard and mouse, speakers, unless you already have them.

i'm just about to build my own computer and as i paid £204 just for the Motherboard, processor with fan and memory on board sound and onboard graphics, no case, no operating system, no hdd, that one your looking at is a good deal. i actually got the 6100 processor, thats a 6-core but with what you want to do the quad / 4-core is perfect.
