Getting nail varnish off white gloss kitchen cabinet

We have had the kitchen in for a week and my Mrs has managed to get red nail varnish on the new white cabinet door!

Does anyone know how we can remove this without damaging the cabinet.

Life was so much easier with an eyesore working kitchen!

Have you tried alchohol based nail varnish remover? Don't think oil based would work.

Is it a blob or just a mark? If it is just a mark, could you use something like T CUT?. If that gets car paint scuff marks off cars without damaging the existing paintwork, it should do the same with nail varnish. You want something which will soften it enough to be rubbed off. If it was a blob, you could carefully take the head off it with a stanley blade and then use nail varnish remover and a muslin cloth, which would be slightly abrasive, but shouldn't really harm the door.

Careful with T-Cut it is an abrasive! Try something mild such as methylated spirits, which might weaken the bond, but test any substance on an out of sight area before you use it in anger, otherwise you might well be angry.

On white gloss, nail polish remover should be fine as it's a sealed surface. Test a small amount on a hidden area first (edge of a cabinet door or something).

If they were natural wood or something you'd be in more trouble. :)

Don't ever use nail polish remover on leather - I spilt some on the couch once and it took the colour out of the leather. :(
  • as said. nail varnish remover is the answer. Do not use T cut. It will ruin the door

Thanks all, will have a bash with the varnish remover! I was all for going at it with a scrubbing brush last night!

Just updating to say of course the nail varnish remover worked, I feel a bit thick now!
