I want a power shower

Currently have an electric shower unit that has a light even spray of water. The shower is over the bath.
Taps in the house are good on pressure and when fully on, the water shoots out fast.
What's the best way of getting this power shower? Any recommended suppliers or installers?
Also, very very roughly what sets price would this be?

What type of boiler do you have to heat your water?
I went down this road when I did my house conversion. I asked the guy who was doing my boiler and bathrooms, that I wanted a power shower. He checked my water pressure and said a combi boiler ( WB 30 cdi) with 11 rads too would be powerful enough. I had a 10kw shower at the time.
My thermo mixer shower is twice as powerful as the electric one was and less expensive. I love powerful showers and this is great.
Take into account though, with a combi, any taps switched on in other parts of the house will drop your pressure. 2 of us in house, 2 bathrooms, we dont run water while shower is on if poss, washing machine and dishwasher don't seem to make that much difference. It is how you work your household water usage , when you shower , which is most important.0 -
Not sure on the type of boiler tbh as I'm not yet at the house. I know there is a large unit in the kitchen which has a selective dial between 1-5 and in the airing cupboard I have a control panel thing for hot water and/or heating.
I know that's not a lot of good, but I will look when I go back to the house.Amo L'Italia0 -
I'm wondering if you mean you want a real 'power shower' or simply a more powerful shower than you have at the moment? You do understand that your system will dictate what type of shower you can fit and you can't simply go out and buy any shower?
With all respect, from your posts and the fact you can't work out what type of boiler/system you have, I think a qualified heating engineer/plumber should be your first point of call on this one.0 -
By power shower I mean just one with a really strong output of water.
My boiler is a WarmWorld 41 555 05 condensing boiler.
I would buy the shower myself and ask a plumber to come and fit it for me.Amo L'Italia0 -
Hi, there are 2 types of power shower, the first is fed from the water mains and has an electric supply just for itself. This has to be wired to the fuse board with brealers. The other is an electric mixer only. This runs off existing hot and cold supplies. A little internet research should be able to help you find out what is suitable for your system.
Ask friends as they normally would know a helpful plumber, who could put you in the right direction.
Good luck.0 -
O.P.: have a look here. Recommended brands... Aqualisa, Mira and Grohe. No idea on cost for your scenario(s).

That's not a power shower. it's a powerful shower...
You presumably have a conventional boiler with a hot water tank (not a combi boiler)? No free lunch, and no free laptop

I have a conventional condensing boiler which has a hot water tank in the loft.
This is my shower:
It has a power control but when I turn that the pressure of the water is not effected in anyway.Amo L'Italia0 -
That is a standard electric shower. Not a power shower.
It has nothing to do with your hot water tank. The shower is supplied with cold water off the rising main, which it heats on-demand in the shower unit.No free lunch, and no free laptop
