Switching direct debits Santander - Halifax

Ok, so I've transferred from Santander to Halifax using the switching service. 8th Feb is my switching date, I have all the DDs set up on my new Halifax account, and they are all still on my Santander account.

Halifax say Santander 'should' cancel them all on the 8th. I have a Santander credit card DD due to leave on about the 10th.

Will this:

a) go smoothly
b) result in 2x direct debits being taken
c) result in 0x direct debits being taken + mega charges

Predictions?

If you don't have many DD's to be honest your probably better switching it yourself, it'll be quicker and you know it's been done.

The only time this isn't a good option is if your getting some form of reward by using their switcher service.

Ah right... then yeh pays to let them do it :)!

They always say during the switch period to have enough money to cover DD's in both accounts (Easier said than done sometimes!)
  • check your halifax account to make sure they are set up and check your santander account on the 8th to see if they have been cancelled. if they havent just cancel them yourselves. Keep in mind, switching your bank account is third party dependant.
