Halifax mortgage tmpp

Hi

Was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice. In July 2009 me and my partner took out a first time mortgage with Halifax, and we were also sold a total mortgage protection plan (tmpp). The last couple of months i've been thinking that I would cancel the plan. I sat down to dig through the paperwork, as at the time it wasn't explained very well. Anyway, I discovered that part of what I was paying for was sickness and injury cover (ie would pay the mortgage instalments if I was off work sick for upto 12months). However, with my employment at that time, I was entitled to 5months off sick at full pay anyway. I defintly wasn't asked what my sick pay entitlements were when we met the advisor and took out the plan. Would this count as PPI being missold?
Thanks

So, not much of an overlap then. With many it would be a weak complaint and they could argue that it still provides you 7 months cover and it wasnt possible to match 5 months. Some overlap can be inevitable. Its the 6 months full, 6 months half where it is obviously wrong.

However, Halifax are auto upholding complaints at the moment so it doesnt matter if your complaint was about a pig flying into the office and telling you fairies existed. They would still uphold it.

  • Thanks for your reply, i appreciate it. I forgot to mention, that the period of full sick pay was connected to my length of time with the company. I had been working there for 2.5 years and was entitled to 5 months full sick pay, but after being there 5 years I would be entitled to 12 months sickpay, Is that worth mentioning when I contact Halifax? Thanks
