Insurance For White Goods Etc Where Can I Get It?

We have recently had a new kitchen fitted and have sourced the appliances from various places to get the best deals.
Alhough most retaillers generously (not!) offer their extended warranties at exhorbitant rates I vaguely recall an insurance company offering a deal covering parts labour or replacemnet with 5 or 6 appliances of not less than a year old at a much more competeitive rate can anyone point me in the right direction.

I have to say I never bother with extended warranties. Most white goods are pretty reliable these days and if something is 5 years old and breaks down I would be inclined to buy a new one. Some companies, like Hotpoint, offer 3/5 years parts guarantees after the statutary one yr warranty. This clearly means that only labour is chargeable.

if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.

That link seems to be about home insurance, not extended warranties at all.

But, especially as you have several new appliances of various types, any extended warranty will always be more expensive than just covering any repairs/replacements yourself.

But, if you really want to do it that way, maybe for peace of mind, Domestic & General have, in my previous experience, been less of a rip-off than a store or manufacturer http://www.domgen.com/index.html

quite right, my mistake - sorry. Another source for aftermarket warranties is here: http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk/h_default1.html?

    HTH.

  • Quotes from the two insurers shown were much more expensive than Dixons! For a Rangemaster cooker; Samsung American fridge and Zanussi tumble drier Dixons wanted £347 (for an extra 48 months cover); warranty direct wanted £504 and Domestic General £527.
    Any other thoughts?
