no, definitely no need to clip them!!
our poor girl can't fly now. she used to live in an outdoor aviary, but she couldn't have survived so was brought in and given to us. poor thing used to live with the quail!!!
She is quite an anti-social bird though and likes to be left alone, I have to let her hop about when cleaning her out, and when I pick her up to put her home, she bites, and she could draw blood!!!0 -
You can get little baths to put over the door of the cage so they can clean themselves.
And sandpaper rolls to cover the perches to stop their claws getting too long.
And if you blow the husks off the top of their seed trays, they can get to the food underneath.
They are difficult to tame when they live with other birds.
I recommend letting them out of their cage once they have been in the room for a couple of weeks and don't move the cage around as they'll get confused about where to land.
There are a couple of budgie owners in the arms. It's worth posting in there for more info.Just because it says so in the Mail, doesn't make it true.
I've got ADHD. You can ask me about it but I may not remember to answer...0 -
be carefull with the sand paper perch covers as they can cause sores under the foot. Its better to have sand paper at the bottom of the cage so they can sit on the perch in comfort:)
If the agression continues between the males then i would suggest you get another cage as birds fighting can result in a dead bird .
how many perches are in the cage at the minute? its a good idea to have a few.
I would not recommend breeding them, you have to be prepared to give hourly feeds etc to new hatchlings if parents cant , know how to feed them without the food choking them if it goes the wrong way etc. Its something you may consider in the future but not at the moment....

one of mine used to always land in my Nanna's white hair. He would stay there for ages trampling about, mush to Nan's bemusement! He would also fly straight to any ice lolly he saw, perch on it (brrrr!) and have a lick of it! He had a long love affair with a green wooden building block...he was totally besotted with it, bless him.....0
