PPI on defaulted Natwest Credit Card?

Hi all - first post.
I've just successfully claimed back some £££ on misold Sainsbury Bank loan PPI, and am now looking at some other options.
I have an old Natwest joint Visa/Mastercard that I took out in 1996, which defaulted in 2009. This hangs over my credit rating like a grey cloud, and I'm wondering if it worthwhile trying to reclaim PPI on it?
Will the default lessen my chances of getting PPI back on this, or the fact it was opened back in 1996?
Any tips/info is much appreciated.

Look here for reasons for mis sell

if any/all apply to you then put a claim in,they may only look back at your account for 6 years,so you will need proof of ppi (statements) before the 6 years,if they go back 6 years,as you defaulted on this card in 09 that is only about 2 years to claim,if you win redress this will be taken off the balance you owe them, have you stopped paying ppi on this card?.0
