Car finance documents from 2002

Hi all!!
I am trying to locate documents for the car I purchased in 2002 on finance with no luck:mad:
This was my 1st NEW car and at the time I was super excited and just beleived everything the sales guy told me. He was extremely pushy with the PPI on the loan, telling me my chances were slim if I didnt get the PPI.
Now I know that I was mis-sold this BUT, can I claim from that far back and will the dealership still have records of the finance I took out?
It was with either GMAC or GE ( now santander).
