Excuses for not paying.......

See below one I received today. This was after I phoned last night and asked them to get in touch 10 days after the auction closed.
I need a laugh...otherwise I would cry only another 35 older than 10 days.........
"Sorry about this misunderstanding, concerning the *******. I would like to apologise sincerely, and say can we forget whatever was said, as it was my younger brother and his friends messing around on my email account, from school. I heard about the message you left, on a phone, but that wasn’t my phone number, it was a house that my brother goes to a lot.
I understand that these things on the internet require you to pay for things you order, but can I just say sorry, and it wont happen again.
Please delete all those details, because they are false."

Hintza, you know what I am going to say don't you!
Give up on this buyer, go through the NPB process and hope that everyone else they have done this to will do the same and they could be losing their ebay account in a matter of days.
I do give buyers the benefit of the doubt sometimes, but this guy is taking the mickey and I would do everything in my power to get his account closed. Maybe even report him for bad contact details, a minor using the account and everything else you can think of.
Good luck

I had one recently, and the excuses for late payment, were along the lines of "moving house, writing off car, fighting child custody etc etc.. all in one week"
Give him his due, the money arrived, and he had to his credit great feedback, which is why I hung on and waited. Did set some alarm bells ringing I must admit, I might have been less sceptical had he just said he had a few problems, rather than listing them!
I will be wary of the child excuse though, but also careful that one of mine doesn't start bidding on something, as they see me buying stuff, some of which is for them. Will sign out at end of sessions me thinks!!0 -
Isn't it amazing how they have time to sit at the PC, watch the auction all week, and bid on it.
Then when it comes to payment at the end, they suddenly have no time!!0 -
Apart from illness, sudden redundancy, or a big pc problem, I can't see any excuses for not paying.0

What a cheeky b*gger!!! ......is that racism?!?!?
I had a buyer who emailed me saying he was 81 but really wanted the item but has just had an operation and can't get out to post the money! He was in America! I gave him the benefit of the doubt ........yes I believed him
I did eventually receive the money (Paypal!!) and he left glowing feedback! what amuses me is the fact that most people that age wouldn't know how to turn a computer on let alone surf the internet! (Sorry...is that ageism??), Usually if someone has a problem I don't mind waiting although I say I will start the NPB process after time and can end it if I get paid! people usually understand!

I think I have had all the excuses under the sun from...... "I posted the cheque, but only found out today that some local neds torched the post box"...... Right through to ...... "The ***** was a present for my girlfriend, who was meant to post the cheque to you on her way to work last week. As she has now dumped me, I no longer need the item"The MSE Dictionary
