What could I use in a receipe instead of american pale ale?!

Lol, yes that joke clearly went way too far over my head nikki!! Not a big ale drinker so I don't have a clue what's good or bad
I think it makes a lot of sense to buy a bit more than required, I'm sure OH will be delighted to quality control the product!!

in answer to the second part of your q - I always use less liquid in the sc as it does evaporate.

Well, I have been pleasantly surprised, I used an ale that used to be called tangled something or other - it smelled fab and I'm glad I got a bit more than I needed, it tasted lovely too - I may be an ale convert after all!!
Would like it a bit colder tho, but OH says that's sacrilege
My pork is marinating nicely in the lovely ale ready to be slow roasted tomorrow :j0 -
we were going to sub it for a really crisp cider....gf beer isn't great. Will let you know how it comes out0

A good alternative is cider, and it is used in other pulled pork recipes too.0
