Please ask your doctor about flying while pregnant. The risk of miscarriage is greatest during the first trimester, and flying can increase that risk.
There is a firm called interhome who offer holiday homes around the world for rental. I don't know if they operate in New Zealand, but if they do then check them out. I have just booked an apartment for four people in a Swiss city through them, and I can't believe how cheap it was -- less then 200 pounds for a week.0 -

Oh: and a toddler who is well looked after on a long flight actually causes less nuisance to others than do adults discussing business or enjoying the free booze.
I do agree with that comment- I have seen first hand some drunken bad behaviour and you don't see children shouting out bad language at the people trying to help them, normally!0 -
Ahhh, just looked and interhomes don't do as far as Australia- just america! Thanks though! May use them if we decide to just do France though! Thanks0

Check out aussiemove.com, lots of info for emmigrants there - and there are listing for house rentals - plus a discussion forum where people who have already emmigrated can recommend tips for rekkies and where they got the best deals from. From what I have heard about Perth, it's one of the fastest growing cities in the world and v v family friendly - indeed with a v laidback lifestyle altogether. There are certainly plenty of jobs going in mining, manufacturing and subsequently the support services that all such companies need. My husband has been offered a job in Perth, but at present we don't have the money to do a rekkie - so not sure what to do. Good luck0

You just dont take kids that young on such a long flight, its bad mannered to the poor swines who have to listen to it all the way there and back and not to mention unfair on the kid who I can guarantee wont sit for long after take off, and also tiring on you (I stupidly took Oli to Malta aged 2 - less than a 3h flight and I needed a holiday to get over it)
Sorry if thats harsh but I think its massively selfish to gtake kids that age any further than a 2-3 hour flight. Thats what you give up who you have kids.
I also think this is nonsense. My daughter is 15 months old and we have been abroad 7 times with her already (next time in a few weeks). Whilst we have never gone 'long haul' most of the flights we have been on are 3 hours or so. It might depend on how well you can occupy your child but I don't think children should stop you from going anywhere (but I guess it is easier and less stressful without children!)
And another thing. I was 9 weeks pregnant when I flew to the US and Canada on business. I asked the doctor and he said as long as you are in good health, there is no problem to fly. Make sure you move around a lot (no problem there with a little one in tow) and you will be fine. Good Luck.0 -

Again...what a load of rubbish.I have taken my son on long and short haul flights since he was 7 months old he is now 11, and it has never been a hassle.
I dont know about your gaurentee about not sitting still..but hey my son did most of the time and was not any hassle to anyone, if he wasnt sitting still he was being occupied by one of us or asleep. The flights have ranged from 5 hours to 14 hours all before he was 3 and plenty more since.
You dont need to give up travel when you have kids!!!!!0 -

We will be taking milk on board, still using up infant milk powder so will probably will take a couple of empty beakers and milk powder in a divider thing and get some boiled water on plane. Not really sure when to be giving her it though due to flying over so many time zones!
Good luck with your plans keep us up to date with them!

My oh has just been asked today to be best man next year for his mate (put it this way honoured wasn't the word he's starting to panic already!)
Are you staying will family or friends in Oz? I quite fancy the idea of living in NZ it sounds lovely so our hol could be kind of a looksee for us to! From what I've read and heard Perth is meant to be lovely lots of Brits there (don't know if thats good or not though:rotfl: ) We looked into going on hol to Oz but realised we liked the sound of NZ more. Would love to take loads of time off seeing NZ and Oz if only money and time were no object!New Zealand
