    I agree for this time you would be better getting a local Gas safe person out. One the change goes through it will prob not be an immediate appointment. It make take a few weeks.

    She's using heaters that you have to plug in. And hot water bottles.

    So she's paying about 3 times as much to heat by electricity...madness.
    Just go round and turn the boiler on for her. What reason is there to think that the boiler is not safe? It may need a service, but that does not make it unsafe.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
