ESTA entry fixed penality notice

Options
Hi All

i have booked the flights to America leaving in less then two weeks and then when filling in the ESTA form it dawned on me that received a fixed penalty notice approximately 2 /3 years ago for affray I ticked the box for no convictions /arrests but was wondering if this would cause an issue with entry

Sorry if this has already been asked, couldnt find it however searching is not really my strong suit.

Thanks guys

If the ESTA was approved then it's exceedingly unlikely that you will have any problems on entry

Too late to do anything about it anyway

I always smile at them in imigration-I'm so happy and chirpy they can't get rid of me quickly enough. Makes for faster processing. Never smile at the Homeland security (CSA) though -they take it as an admission of guilt you must be up to something ;)

I can think of one person that will be along soon to detail to great extent the rules and quote moral turpitude etc.

I cannot imagine who that could be!

Or place your passport in your mouth when rummaging through your hand luggage. Saw this happen at SFO airport where a young British girl was in the immigration queue and was looking for something in her hand luggage.

She placed her passport in her mouth to free up both hands, but a jobsworth security guy ran over to her and actually manhandled her and told her in no uncertain terms to remove the passport from her mouth.

OK - I appreciate that placing a passport in your mouth is not ideal - but what a horrible piece of work this guy was.

He is probably bullied at home off his wife and takes it out on visitors to his country while he is in uniform!

You know, I remember reading on this forum about a guy who was speeding in the US and got stopped, the police dragged him out of his car and had a gun to his head........then I got stopped twice in 2 different States and was encountered by nothing but friendliness.
Then I read stories like you just wrote and consider my own experiences at US security and think to myself I must just be lucky because in about 12 visits to the US I've just been met with smiles and once or twice a touch of coldness. Never anything remotely like you just explained so I wonder...are people just scaremongering, assuming, or just plain making things up?

In any case I digress, the fact is the UK shares only very limited amounts of information with US Homeland security and so the reality is that unless you are a kiddy fiddler, don't like women telling you no in the bedroom, have snuffed someone out or lean towards the scriptures of terrorists then you will be fine and the US won't have the slightest sniff of anything you have, or have not done.

In other words the only thing standing between you and the ol USA is your conscience.

You can check by going to the official website (not a scam one) and putting you name and passport number in

You should have had an onscreen message when you applied giving success/defer/refused.

If you were neither arrested or convicted the answer on ESTA would be NO.
