I have to ask-why? Is your current boiler nearing the end of it's life/unserviceable?
Is the property even suitable for a combi? Is there sufficient gas supply and water pressure to run one?
These are all questions that can only be answered following a site survey by your chosen RGI.
Chemical flushing is normally a standard requirement in order to satisfy the warranty terms.

  • Yes it is nearing the end of it's life. the water pressure is good when you ask about sufficient gas supply it is on mains gas if this helps.

Good doesn't necessarily mean 'good enough'. Get an RGI around to quote and check the supplies for you.
No, mains gas is not necessarily sufficient! No one can quote properly without seeing the site.
What boiler have you got in mind?

Hi, I've had a combi condensing boiler for about 8 years.... It replaced a big monster of a boiler that you just had to bang it with a hammer, replace the thingy that made sure the pilot light stayed lit, and put the hoover nozzle on it and, bobs you uncle, it ran for another year.... However, we had to replace it .. big mistake !!!

Over the past 8 years, I have had every single part of the combi replaced and some parts replaced serveral times and every time the engineer comes out it is something 'big' that needs changed... I thought I just had a rogue boiler ... but to all intents and purposes it's common and that's why you have to take out expensive boiler insurance... Of course, there will be a lot of people on the forum, who have never had bother but the last time I was talking to the lady on Homeserve she said she would never have a combi if she could put the clock back... so, if I was you, I would wait until your old boiler dies a death before changing it...

Just for information, there is just me and the better-half in the house now and the heating isn't on until the evening and the heating is seldom on between April & October as we don't like a hot house! The only exception is if we have a visitor, who we know would freeze to death in our house... then heating goes back on.... so it is not as if it is working full pelt to cause it to have to be repaired/bits replaced so often....

    I hope this helps

    Regards
