One of my cats bites his nails!

Just sayin'

He's always done it and he's in his mid teens so I doubt if he'll give up the habit now :rotfl:

Anyone else had this?

So does my Daisy...she'll often be on my lap grooming herself then next thing I'll hear the crunch as she's starts biting her nails, usually it's her back paws.
  • i wish my cat would do hers,:( broke a pair of cliipers on hers so will have to get vet to do them as they are really thick! the other two cats claws arent like it!

  • Both my two cats do this. Its seems part of their grooming regime.
    :p
  • its all part of the grooming process. as there nails are formed in layers, they sometimes need to help the top layer off.
  • Same here with one of my three, she chomps on her back claws if they're long, short, painted pink (just kidding lol) or anything inbetween. The ones she chews on the most seem to be getting thicker as she get's older, so I might have to get a bigger set of clippers soon.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Yes, but one also used to shake her foot and show irritation. I took her to a dermatologist and a neurologist and it turned out to be a food allergy.....low or no grain cat food here now. I am in retrospect glad because it made me do a lot of reading iparound cat nutrition and started us introducing some raw food, which they love.
