Baby Milk

Hi everyone, i'm new to the site so apologise if this thread is in the wrong place.
Just after a bit of advice really. I have been recommended to change the baby milk my 5 week old daughter is on (again, but thats another story!) by the health visitor. I bought a tin of the previous milk only last week which is still unopended so i toddled off to Tesco to see if they would exchange it and me pay the price difference. I didn't have my receipt so knew it was a long shot but they have been pretty good in the past with differnet issues.
The CS lady asked for my reciept, which i didn't have, then replied that they couldn't accept baby milk back as it could have been tampered with.
So, my point is, a) why ask for my receipt if you wont accept it back anyway? and b) is she correct that baby milk is non returnable?
Thanks
Kate

if you have a receipt then they can accept it back and write it off as bad stock. no receipt then youre lumbered. we had the same problem when we were told by the HV to switch chops over to omneo comfort. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0

I find that Health Visitors aren't the most reliable people to take advice from anyway! Each one seems to contradict the advice the other gives (In our case, this included the milk as well).
If your baby is healthy, taking their milk and growing at the correct scale I wouldn't worry too much.
Of course, if you have any friends with babies who use the formula you have bought, ask them to buy the one you want next time they go and swap it with them.0 -
I think it's pretty standard that baby milk can't be returned...but like ant says some stores will accept it as a good will gesture, it depends on which way the wind is blowing that day (or so it seems lol)0

Baby milk can't be resold (so I was once told by an Asda CS), so if the store does take it back it's a goodwill gesture (hence asking for the receipt - it could have been bought anywhere)
Same goes for nappies in a lot of places - I know Boots definitely won't take them back, and the supermarkets are a bit hit and miss.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
My local Tesco won't take back baby milk but will take back nappies.
No consistency...no surprise!
If you can find your receipt try again on a different time of day when differnt staff on the desk. Failing that, try swapping with another mum.
I'd swap with another mumWho made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Totaly different items so you cant compare, if baby milk is tampered with it could kill a baby.0
