Excel parking permit fallen off

Hi all,

I read the stickies and think I need to ignore a £30 'fine' Parking Charge Notice, from excel parking but still have a couple of questions. My story is I paid for a permit to park. I received a white permit holder and put it on my dash but not a permit to go in it. I was unaware I was to receive a permit aswell and thus my permit holder did not have a permit in it. I parked at work for the last few months with the white permit holder displayed without a problem but got a parking fine on 16th Jan.

I appealed on the ground I paid for my permit but only received the holder and thus it was excel's fault not mine. They rejected my appeal standard letter and want £30 for the fine and £5 to replace the permit. I received this letter date 31st Jan i.e 15 days after the appeal. Obviously I want to park at work but do not want to pay £35. Can I pay the £5, get a replacment permit and not pay the 30? Also do I have to appeal twice or should I start ignoring now?

Any thoughts appreciated,

Just ignore the £30 fake PCN from now on. Send the fiver for the permit because that's reasonable if it's a place like a hospital where staff would need to show a permit.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Can I just say to you about the £5 for the permit, ensure you specifically say that its for the permit and not for the invoice, otherwise you will probably find them chasing you for £25. Enclose in the letter you are sending them that you deny the debt is due, and if they wish to pursue the matter go straight to the small claims, if you don't receive a claim within 14 days you consider the matter closed. Or words to that effect
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • Just remembered it is a car sharing permit as I car share with a mate. I will see if he has a permit and if so I think I will photocopy his as this will save me the £5 'replacement'.

You may on dodgy ground photocopying a permit though. Can't you just both use the same permit, taking it in turns to put said permit in your car if you travel together each day? Or do you not see him every day?

So you paid £5 and they never gave you the permit?

So rather than you owing them £30 or £35, THEY owe you £5!

Who did you get the permit from and how?

If it's all through Excel I'd personally print out my bank statement, highlight the five pound transaction, use that as a permit and start a collection of speculative invoices.

What utter d*cks. Yes we know they're in the 'business' of speculative invoicing, but this is a simple business transaction where the rules of customer service apply.
