Halifax credit card PPI claim

Hi! I took out an Halifax credit card in 2002 and didnt realise that it had PPI until sometime later when i rang to cancel it i was advised that basically it wasnt a good idea and was an essential item to ensure payments were maintained, even though i had stated my parents could cover the debt (only small £1500ish) and i was in receipt of full sick pay with my employer.
I think that is a valid claim for mis-selling as if it was explained properly when i took out the card then i would have realised it was not needed.
I have my credit agreement sent to me from halifax but there is no indication if its applied for online or in branch or over the telephone. My name and income is typed in and the ppi box is computer crossed with an 'x' but my signature and date is manually written in. Is this likely to be in branch or online or what?
Also is my claim valid?

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks again
