Santander failed to collect DD from Barclays - Adverse Credit

Hello all.

I need some assistance.

I recently noticed a DD for a loan I had with A&L (now Santander) wasnt taken from my Barclays account as it has been for the last 4 years without fail. After noticing I recieved an nasty letter from Santander telling me it wasnt taken, make payment etc. I rang them made payment, asked why it wasnt taken, little did I know I was speaking to Westcot debt collection...who were no help, they said they didnt know. I rang Barclays, they said the DD was active, no idea why it wasnt taken.

I've complained to Santander who replied saying that when they requested the DD on the 28 December from Barclays they recieved a CODE 4 return, which translates as BANK ACCOUNT DOES NOT EXIST. Which is odd as my account was active, and I had 4 other DD's come out for various other things around this date.

I have supplied evidence to Santander that my account was active, along with evidence that the other DD's that came out fine for other companies. Really my question is I now have adverse mark on my credit history through no fault of my own, and I want to know who I can get either compensation for this or get it removed. I am waiting out to hear from Santander in light of the evidence I have sent them. I am standing by with an FOS complaint but all the while I am sitting with this non payment sitting on my account through no fault of my own.

Many thanks
Will

2 payments and sent to dca....... somethings missing.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    Chanz4,

It was the first time its never been collected, there was enough funds to cover the DD (4 times over) and as I said I never made/ asked for any amendments. Strange though as the DD came out fine today.

Happy to report this has now been resolved! Following a second complaint in which I supplied supporting evidence from Barclays that there was:
1 - More then enough funds in my acct
2 - 4 other DD's taken at the same time from 4 other companies
3 - Acknowledgement in writing from Barclays that there was an error from Santander in requesting payment

Santander complaints called yesterday and put it down to a "system glitch" which happens "from time to time with direct debits" they are going to remove the marker from my credit history.
